ICAM Manages Changes to Procedures
![]()
Managing the change to procedures has been an issue for quite some time. In organizations where silos exist, typically each group had their own management of change procedure. The problem was, this procedure was rarely fully utilized and it did not include communication with the other silos.
With the requirement to manage change more effectively and efficiently, the need for a formal management of change process becomes apparent. This process must include the following components:
1. Document the nature of the change
2. Analyze the implications of the change
3. Receive management approval for the change
4. Implement the change
5. Communicate the change to the appropriate parties
The primary issue with a paper based approach is completing these steps in a sequential and timely manner. Paper forms may not capture all the information, they need to be manually routed, they are often lost or forgotten about and maybe most importantly, the resultant communications are verbal. Verbal communications (contracts) or the breaking of them, are the single largest cause for missteps, bottle necks and the requirement to repeat efforts that were undertaken without proper information.
An automated management of change platform eliminates each of these issues and supports historical review to support improvement in a performance based environment.
