ICAM for Identified Site Management

Identified Site Management (ISM) is a web based methodology designed to facilitate communications with Public Officials and/or Emergency Responders. This communication program may be applied to either the requirements of 49 CFR 192 Subpart O or as part of Public Awareness based on API 1162.

ISM allows the respondents to create a secure login and then to mark locations along the pipeline where they believe an identified site might exist. This is accomplished on county maps with the pipelines and HCA identified. Additionally, the respondents may be asked to voluntarily participate in a simple survey. View Results

ISM was originally implemented for Panhandle Energy in 2005 with an 8% response which immediately told us the methodology had merit. The web based application was refined and implemented a second time in early 2009. This effort received greater than 13% response which is unheard of for typical marketing campaigns.

The number of visits peaked in the second week and while being fairly consistent in weeks 1, 3 and 4. Overall the activity ran for 5 weeks before settling out.

Of the 259 counties that were targeted, 161 responding providing 72% coverage.
